Volunteer Recruitment old

East Fife And Levenmouth Mental Health Befriending Projects

Volunteer Recruitment

Both projects are keen to recruit at all times.

What Form Does Our Training Take?

Initial training consists of a 12 hour training programme delivered over several sessions, with an evaluation at the finish.

Confidentiality and boundaries are stressed to be of the utmost importance throughout the training. An overview of mental health issues, the befriending process (roles, tasks, boundaries, skills and approach required etc.), problem-solving and anticipating potential difficulties in befriending relationships, and befriending adolescents and their needs are also covered.

We ensure that volunteers understand LINK's policies and procedures, equal opportunities, racial equality and awareness, and we provide an opportunity for potential volunteers to meet with established ones, for a question and answer session.

All volunteers are Enhanced Disclosure checked through the PVG Scheme, in accordance with current legislation, as they will be working alone with vulnerable people.

In addition to formal introductory training we hold on-going volunteer training and social events for befrienders and their befriendees throughout the year. A monthly drop-in for volunteers is also offered.

One-to-one supervision from the Project Coordinator occurs monthly but can be tailored to the specific needs of each volunteer.

The Project welcomes volunteers from all walks of life and sections of the community.
